Listed below are links to some fun web sites for our kids to visit.
First in Math - www.firstinmath.com - it is a program used by 2nd to 5th graders to enhance their math facts skills. It is a competitive program. Students compete with other students, classes with other classes and schools with other schools. It is accessed at the above website via a pre-assigned username and password pre-assigned by Lesley Burch, the computer lab manager.
Lexia - www.lexialearning.com - Lexia is a reading program used primarily as an intervention course for K-2nd students who need a little extra help specifically with phonics. It is accessed at the above website with use of our site code (7298-8580-7200-0091) and the students username and password pre-assigned by their teacher.
Taylor Reading - www.readingplus.com - it is an intervention program to help students 1st-3rd build fluency skills and to enhance comprehension. It is accessed at the above website thru a username and password pre-assigned by the computer lab manager.
Study Island - www.studyisland.com - is a reading and math assistance program for 3rd -5th graders designed to help students study for the annual NMSBA tests. It is directly aligned with New Mexico State Standards and Benchmarks so it reinforces the exact info students will see on the test. Though tests are now over, students are continuing to use the program as means to prepare them for the next grade level. It is accessed at the above website by a pre-assigned username and password from the computer lab manager.
Summerfest 2009 - www.letterpals.org - is an online interactive summer reading program for students 1st-3rd grade. They can sign up to receive weekly electronic letters from the Pet Shop Pen Pals. Starting June 22nd an online letter will be available every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of each week until August 2nd. So there is a total of 24 letters. Each letter is personalized with each child's name. They are guaranteed to be age specific and appropriate. Each letter is 3 pages long and comes with questions to ensure comprehension. They also
contain 8 highlighted words that are used in daily crossword and word search puzzles. For each letter completed (read and puzzles done), your child can earn 24 points. Points will be accumulated and used for a prize give away in September of the following school year (2009-2010). 1st-3rd grade students will be added to the program by Lesley Burch, and it will be up to the parents to sign them up (or make it active).
